Density: 0.945 Melting Point: 127 ºC Flash Point: 11 ºC Water Solubility: reacts Colorless or flaxen viscous liquid，it is susceptive to oxygen，flammable，easily absorptive and has strong basicity. Sodium Methylate acts corrosively to skin, and it is also soluble in ethanol, glycerol etc. In the presence of water , it will decompose to methanol and sodium hydroxide . Methanol is toxic and has strong thrill for human being’s breath system . Usage: It can be usely as catalyst in the production of biodiesel, or pharmaceutical intermediates to produce Vitamin A1, VItamin B1, Sulfamethoxypyridazine, Sulfadiazine, Trimethoprim etc. Package and Storage: Must be careful because Sodium Methylate is flammable and toxic. It must be indicated “Flammable”, “Toxic” outside of the packaging drum. The packaging drums must be airproof. Net weight of per drum of Sodium methylate is 200kg in a plastic drum; It must be hard, clean, dry and leakless. Keep cool, dry and ventilated, keep away from fire, avoid the irradiation of daylight. Workers must wrap on protect mask in order to avoid corrotion from Sodium methylate or harm of methanol during handling it.
