Description

Iron woks are one of the oldest cooking utensils in China and are famous for their sturdiness, long endurance, even heating and most importantly for their health benefits. Unfortunately these days most consumers prefer to buy mass-produced non-stick pans which, while being a little easier to clean (more on this later, iron woks are easy to clean if you treat them correctly) have a number of disadvantages. Compared to iron woks, non-stick woks: operate at lower temperatures (this completely changes the taste of the food being prepared in the wok and makes stir frying difficult, if you want to prepare authentic chinese food you have to use an iron wok) are not used by professionals (how many restaurants do you know that use non-stick cookware?) have a short lifetime (have you ever used a metal implement in a non-stick pan? it’s not non-stick any more!). Also the hot hand hammering process modifies the structure of the iron making these woks stronger and more durable than machine made woks. may damage your health, link link The woks we sell on this website are all handmade by a family of highly skilled blacksmiths with over 80 years of history in making woks and are still made in the same way as they were being made 80 years ago; formed entirely using nothing more than hammers and fire. Each wok typically takes 5 hours to make, several are made at the same time, on the picture above you can see that one wok is hammered while the other heats on the fire, once the wok is too cold they are exchanged. Some of the larger woks take much longer, for example a 64cm wok takes two men (they’re too big for one man to handle alone) two whole days to complete. More information: Because of even thermal conductivity, iron can combine with acids in the food, which make the iron in the food 10 times higher to accelerate blood creation. To use iron wok has been taken into medical treatment recommendation of lack of iron anemia disease. Some feedbacks from customers: Customer 1 from USA: “my mom has a wok that was brought over from Korea almost 30 years ago and lemme tell ya, there have been plenty o’ great meal cooked in it!” Customer 2 from Canada: “I want one of these. And I don’t even cook.” Customer 3 from UK: “a lot of people don’t like using non-stick pans these days as there are toxicity issues related with them, especially if you overheat them (people finding pet birds in the kitchen were dying when they got PTFE (eg Teflon) coated pans too hot). However, iron wok doesn’t have such issue.” … More about hand hammered iron wok: 1. Iron woks are made from heated iron which is better than cast iron woks 2. Iron wok can prevent the vitamin’s loss 3. Stainless steel utensils contain chrome which can cause cancer 4. Aluminum utensils may cause health concern Have one today!!!
