The PAN or Rayon felt are converted into carbon fiber felt by the special process of preoxidization, carbonization aftertreatment etc.

Use:

as thermal insulation materials in furnaces with elevated temperature, e.g.: ceramic sintering furnace, vacuum evaporating furnace, semiconductor monocrystal furnace and CVD induction furnace etc. And they can be used as electrical conducting materials. Such as conducting electrode in Na-S storage battery and also used as reforcing material in composites.
