SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON FANCY BLUE DIAMONDS

Natural (a.k.a. “Fancy”) blue diamonds display the colors of nature, that of sea and sky.  These are nature's rarest rarities!   It is one of the rarest and most pleasing colors. 

True Fancy Blue Diamonds that deserve any of GIA’s really meaty grades: “fancy light blue,” “fancy blue” or, on the rarest of occasions, “fancy dark blue,” are much coveted and sought after as prized possessions. 

As far as supply goes for the natural-color, or "fancy" blue diamonds, some of the world’s well known diamond experts are finding it hard to obtain them.  When one of these rare Fancy Blue Diamonds appear at one of the top auction houses,  prices soar (easily more than $1,000,000 per carat for a five-carat “fancy blue” stone), reflecting their scarcity and high demand. 

Following behind the pink diamonds in rarity several years ago, the fancy blue diamond has now taken front seat as one of the rarist of colors.  A genuine fancy blue diamond of more than 5 cts is extremely rare, even at the lightest of the GIA's blue hues!
