Characteristic
White or off-white amorphous flake or powder. Insoluble in water, dilute acid, dilute alkali, concentrated alkali and ordinary organic solution.
Chitin is mainly abstracted from  crab shell and shrimp shell, and it is basic raw material of chitosan and glucosamine.
